On behalf of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) and the World Bank, we are pleased to invite you to the Korea dissemination of the World Development Report (WDR) 2023: Migrants, Refugees, and Societies, to be held at 9:30am on October 27, 2023 at Namsan III, Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul.

The World Bank has published WDR since 1978. Each WDR offers in-depth analyses of a selected critical development topic, provides policy recommendations, and contributes to providing an analytical framework about the given development subject. The topic of WDR 2023 is migration. This joint dissemination event presents the Ministry’s endeavor to actively engage on migration with government agencies, international organizations, embassies and other foreign representation society, academia and other key stakeholders.

The event will focus on discussing migration and its role in addressing challenges posed by demographic changes. More specifically, it will highlight the proposed framework of migration policies, key findings, and recommendations from the WDR 2023 report, and discuss Korea’s Employment Permit System which the WDR
identifies as a global good practice in managing foreign workers, focusing on its achievements and challenges ahead.
